Storytelling and hands-on textile dyeing introduce families to the ways plants can be used to create color at Vizcaya Village. Held Sunday, November 22, the program begins with author Sita Singh reading from Indigo Hands, followed by an indigo workshop exploring resist-dyeing techniques and the connections among nature, craft and tradition. During the workshop, children prepare a textile by wrapping, tying and creating patterns before dipping it into an indigo dye bath and revealing the finished design. Adults are encouraged to participate alongside their children and assist with the activities. The hands-on portion is designed for participants under 17 and is limited to 35 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver. The program takes place exclusively at Vizcaya Village and does not include admission to Vizcaya’s Main House and gardens.
