Herp Tour

Guided hikes through Deering Estate’s restricted natural areas introduce participants to South Florida’s native reptiles, amphibians and the habitats they depend on. Offered on select Saturdays from May through October, the Herp Tour is led by a Deering Estate naturalist and explores the ecological roles these species play in both wild and urban environments. Participants move through several habitat types while learning how to identify and observe local herpetofauna. Guests are encouraged to document plant and wildlife sightings through iNaturalist, and should wear closed-toe shoes, bring water and insect repellent and dress for outdoor hiking conditions.
