The Dream Concert: A Tribute to Paul Anka & Bobby Darin

Songs made famous by Paul Anka and Bobby Darin share the stage in a tribute concert built around the imagined meeting of two midcentury pop icons. The Dream Concert: A Tribute to Paul Anka & Bobby Darin comes to Aventura Arts & Cultural Center on Thursday, February 18. The production features Ron Gartner performing Darin’s music and Lou Villano interpreting Anka’s songbook, backed by a live band and multimedia elements. The show traces both performers’ careers through music, visuals and storytelling, from their early success as teen idols to their work as songwriters, film performers and nightclub headliners. The program includes Anka classics such as “Diana,” “Put Your Head on My Shoulder,” “You Are My Destiny” and “The Times of Your Life,” along with Darin favorites including “Splish Splash,” “Dream Lover,” “Mack the Knife” and “Beyond the Sea.” Designed as an audience-interactive concert, the performance blends swing-era showmanship, pop nostalgia and biographical context to revisit two entertainers who helped shape popular music in the 1950s and 1960s.
