Harmonica, tuba, horns, banjo and drums drive a wide-ranging mix of early blues, Balkan influences, Afro-Cuban rhythms and global folk traditions in the Banyan Bowl. The concert takes place Saturday, October 24 at Pinecrest Gardens as part of the Sound Sessions series. Led by vocalist and harmonica player Wade Schuman, New York-based Hazmat Modine has toured more than 40 countries and collaborated with artists including Bombino, Kronos Quartet, Natalie Merchant and Benin’s Gangbé Brass Band. The ensemble’s layered instrumentation gives its music the atmosphere of a New Orleans barrelhouse refracted through sounds from across Europe, Africa and the Americas. Guests may add Pinecrest UNCORKED!, a preconcert wine tasting beginning at 6 p.m. with wine and light bites served in the gardens. Combination VIP tickets include admission to the tasting and assigned seating for the concert.
