Orquesta La Oferta: Honors El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico

Salsa, bomba, plena and merengue fill the Banyan Bowl during a holiday tribute to the music of El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico. The concert takes place Saturday, December 19 at Pinecrest Gardens, opening the fifth annual Tropical Nights series. The program includes songs such as “No Hay Cama Pa’ Tanta Gente,” “Julia” and “El Arbolito.” Founded by Javier Avilés in 2015, Orquesta La Oferta performs arrangements designed to preserve the sound and legacy of El Gran Combo. Endorsed by members of the Puerto Rican orchestra, the ensemble honors the group’s decades-long influence on salsa and Caribbean popular music. Puerto Rican holiday food will also be available during the evening. Season subscriptions go on sale in July and August, while single-show tickets are scheduled for release in mid-September.
