Joshua Kane: In My Own Lifetime - How Broadway Musicals Made Me Jewish

What happens when a nice Jewish boy skips Hebrew school and studies the American Songbook instead? In Joshua Kane’s case, he grew up believing Fiddler on the Roof was an ancestral memory and that every life problem could be solved with a Broadway finale. In this joyful, heart-warming performance, Kane blends classic Golden Age showtunes with hilarious and touching stories from his own journey. He celebrates the first generation Jewish composers and lyricists who shaped the American musical — Sheldon Harnick, Jerry Bock, Harold Rome, Anthony Newley, Leslie Bricusse, Rodgers & Hammerstein & Hart, Sylvia Fine, Betty Comden, Adolph Green and more — inviting audiences to raise a glass and say L’Chaim (“To Life!”) together. For more than 30 years, Joshua Kane has delighted audiences in NYC and across North America as an actor, storyteller, and voice artist. His acclaimed one man shows bring audiences together with wit, wonder, and theatrical mischief. Kane’s voice will be familiar to you from documentaries, radio dramas on Public Radio, audiobooks and more.
