Concert for Kids: Storybook Symphony

Storybook characters, fairy-tale settings and orchestral music come together in a family concert designed for young listeners. Concert for Kids: Storybook Symphony takes place Sunday, April 11 at New World Center in Miami Beach as part of New World Symphony’s 2026-2027 season. Led by NWS Conducting Fellow Ziwei Ma, the program introduces children to classical music through themes inspired by legends, adventures, castles, dragons and faraway kingdoms. Designed for ages 4 to 9, the concert uses storytelling as an entry point for families exploring live orchestral music. Young attendees are encouraged to come dressed as a favorite storybook character, adding a playful costume element to the morning. Pre-concert activities include hands-on experiences, story time and family-friendly programming before the performance begins. Ma, New World Symphony’s Conducting Fellow, also leads family, educational and holiday programming during the season and has been named a 2026-28 recipient of the Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship.
