Miami’s legends, neighborhood histories and present-day realities become material for nine short plays whose future depends on audience votes. City Theatre’s Miami Ghost Stories takes place Sunday, November 1 at Villain Theater in Little Haiti. Professional actors read teaser versions of the selected plays, accompanied by live music from world-pop duo HOLA HI. A framing story by Joshua Jean-Baptiste connects the evening’s mix of unsettling, suspenseful and humorous tales. Audience members then vote for the stories City Theatre will develop and produce as a full show the following Halloween. The participating Miami-based playwrights are Jeff Burleson, Samara Siskind, Ivan R. Lopez, Joey Schrier, Paul Torres Wong, William Hector, Brittany King, J.C. Gutierrez and Toni Rodriguez. General admission is $25. Supporter tickets are $75 and Patron tickets are $150, with the additional contributions supporting next Halloween’s production. All ticket levels provide the same admission and a vote. The program runs approximately 80 minutes.
