Candlelight: Juan Luis Guerra

Juan Luis Guerra’s merengue, bachata and tropical pop songs are recast for string quartet in a candlelit setting at Pinecrest Gardens. The tribute is presented October 16 and November 20, with Listeso String Quartet performing selections from the Dominican singer-songwriter’s catalog. The tentative program includes “La Bilirrubina,” “Ojalá que Llueva Café,” “Burbujas de Amor,” “Bachata Rosa,” “Visa para un Sueño,” “La Llave de Mi Corazón” and “Bachata en Fukuoka.” The arrangements translate Guerra’s rhythm-driven songwriting and melodic sensibility into an acoustic chamber format. The 60-minute performance is open to guests ages 8 and older, with anyone under 16 required to attend with an adult. Seating within each ticketed zone is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
