Flamenco’s regional traditions and contemporary evolution come together in a full-length production by Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía at the Adrienne Arsht Center. Presented Saturday, February 27 and Sunday, February 28 as part of the 18th annual Flamenco Festival Miami, Tierra Bendita draws on the music, dance and cultural landscapes of Andalucía. The production moves between historical and modern flamenco, juxtaposing 18th-century aesthetics with present-day approaches to choreography and musical form. Traditional songs, rhythmic structures and modal influences provide the foundation for a work that also highlights a new generation of flamenco artists and creators. Performed in the Knight Concert Hall, Tierra Bendita is structured as a journey through different expressions of Andalucía, with individual dance and musical passages designed to stand on their own while contributing to a broader portrait of flamenco across time.
